THE PROCESS IS THE PRODUCT

Our team of specialists works in compliance with the ISO 9001 and 14001 management systems and accompanies our customers throughout the whole product life cycle, from the initial idea and request for quote to the planning of follow-on tools and capacity tools in large-scale injection-moulding production. In collaboration with our internal development and design department, as well as with our in-house toolroom, we work closely with our customers throughout the requisition and innovation process.

The starting point and, indeed, core of the Kläger philosophy is that our key account management works hand in hand with the customer’s own experts and decision-makers, right from the initial ideas and development, as part of the overall product project planning. This is the fast, efficient way to ensure added value for both parties.

We are truly in our element when it comes to collaboration with automobile suppliers and development partners of first and second tier suppliers. This is in no short measure due to our expertise in the injection moulding of sophisticated automotive and electronic components. But just as vehicle manufacturers are evolving into mobility providers, following the paradigm shift of digitalisation, we are keeping one step ahead and paving our customers’ way to a successful future through sustainable, exciting product solutions made of high-performance plastics. In so doing, we assist them in the transformation of their product range:

I.   Through our precision components made of high-performance plastics we support mobility providers in the development of lightweight construction and emission reduction. Replacing aluminium, zinc or die cast metals with alternative technical, sustainable high-performance thermoplastics contributes to weight reduction in the automotive world, which ultimately goes hand in hand with an increase in efficiency.

The substitution of metal with plastic also results in a decisive advantage in the engineering process for our customers: due to considerably better material properties and, at the same time, significantly lower system costs, high-performance plastics such as PPS are becoming a fundamental component of new assembly concepts in the automotive and electrical sectors, as well as for pumps and engines.

Advanced performance polymers achieve extremely high solidity and stiffness. The higher level of functional integration can be seen, among other things, in the direct injection of threads and the use of mould sliders. In addition to this, an improved electrical conductivity can be achieved. Ultimately, in comparison to die casting, it is possible to dispense with mechanical finishing steps and external surface treatments.

II.   Innovative hybrid parts will also become increasingly important on the market. These highly complex plastic/metal parts for bespoke, intelligent applications consist of at least two different raw materials. At Kläger Plastik, this means in particular high-performance plastics and metal inserts such as electronic contacts, EloPin press fits, lead frames, axes and sleeves. State-of-the-art processing, automation and quality assurance technology enables us to combine the advantages of metal and plastic into a solid, integrated component as part of this insert process technology.

There are numerous applications for these metal/plastic composite systems. As a result, our products are not only used in the automotive sector, but also in the fields of electronics and electrotechnology. They are also built into controllable pumps and drive systems, as well as those with diagnostic capability.

III.   High-performance plastics such as PPS score high with their outstanding resilience. What’s more, we know this material category at the top of the plastic pyramid like the back of our hand. In comparison to traditional technical plastics, PPS is more reliable and can withstand significant differences in temperature, extreme pressure and the long-term effects of aggressive chemicals, such as fuel.

Over the past decades, we have proved our expertise when it comes to producing the most complex PPS parts at the very limits of possibility, even in large series, achieving the closest tolerances and highest process capabilities. Our systematic quality assurance and the integrated certified processes in compliance with ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management) guarantee that we can meet customer requirements while complying with industry norms and legal standards.
